The district’s Bus Finder tool allows parents to look up their child’s bus stop location, pickup and drop-off times.

A soft roll out of the system began on May 16. 

Impacted families will be asked to choose between getting a bus stop or continue getting stipends for driving their children to school.

The plan, announced in September, is to use TARC drivers to drive the JCPS buses.

Transportation may be restored for some Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) students before the end of the year, but some families it's too late.

Jefferson County Public Schools officials said the district now has enough drivers from Louisville's public transportation agency to possibly restore bus routes that were cut.

Leaders have been working all summer long to make changes after some students arrived home as late as 10 p.m. on the first day of school in August 2023, prompting school to be canceled for two days to resolve the issues.

The district said nothing is official until the board approves a plan.
