Friendship Health and Rehab in Pewee Valley has seen an outbreak of 155 coronavirus cases in its facility. 

Transportation officials said it happened when a contractor working on the I-Move Kentucky project damaged a water pipe that services the rest areas.

Schultz, who has been superintendent of the district since July 2016, made the announcement during the Oldham County Board of Education meeting. 

The closure marked the fourth time the rest areas have been shut down in 2020 because of issues with the plumbing.

The rest areas were also closed in February, May and October due to plumbing issues.

The state had a record-breaking number of new COVID-19 cases on both Thursday and Friday.

The same rest areas closed for plumbing issues in May and July, but reopened within a few days. 

KY 146, or Railroad Avenue, has had issues for years with tractor trailers getting stuck while trying to make it over the crossing. 

It happened Thursday afternoon in the Old Taylor Place neighborhood in Oldham County.
