U.S. border authorities confiscated 350 pounds of meat from a man attempting to smuggle the goods over the Texas border last week.
Federal prosecutors announced Friday that one Honduran national illegally in this country has been charged with harboring 29 people.
Some of the illegal shipments may have ties to terrorism.
Customs and Border Protection officers seized the shipment of 216 belts on July 29 as it was on its way from Hong Kong to Atlanta.
Authorities estimated the value of the shipment at nearly $130,000.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a news release that it has made 16 seizures of unapproved and counterfeit tests and equipment.
The crabs sell for about $50 each, and they are illegal to sell in the U.S. without a permit because they are an invasive species.
Officials said the two left contraband at a work site for offenders. The inmates who worked at the site then were expected to smuggle the contraband into the jail.
