The plan is to repaint the lines between Stilz Avenue and Lexington Road. They want to reduce the number of lanes from four to three, and add a center turning lane.

Small business owners are asking city officials to pump the brakes on a plan to reconfigure traffic on part of Frankfort Avenue because it would hurt their bottom line.

It's part of the year-long Frankfort Avenue Main Replacement Project that has crews replacing critical water mains near the Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant. 

The phase of the project involving the closure of Hillcrest was supposed to wrap up in January, so the reopening came early.

The project will restripe the street from four lanes to three. There are plans to create a center lane and dedicated turn lane at key intersections.

Last month, the Louisville Water Company announced plans to replace the nearly 2-mile long water main that runs beneath Lexington from Grinstead Drive to Stilz Avenue.
