LMPD said Herbert Lee shot an officer in the chest when they approached him at Shawnee Park on Sunday evening. Lee was known to have warrants, according to police.
Multiple sources tell WDRB News Herbert Lee was the man who shot the officer. Lee was previously convicted of crashing a stolen car that killed four teenagers.
"I feel like if somebody was to shoot at the police, they have to do their job, Bruce Sweeney, who witnessed the incident, said.
