BROWNSTOWN, In. (WDRB) -- Brownstown Central has been close before with Dave Benter, who is in his 26th season as the team's head coach.
Brownstown Central was state runner-up in 2004 and 2009. Now the top-ranked Braves are one step away from bringing home the school's first state championship in basketball.
They are 27-4, ranked number one in class 2A. They meet 2nd ranked, 26-2 Wapahani Saturday at 12:45 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the state title.
The Braves are led by 6'6" Purdue signee Jack Benter, the son of the head coach. He's the school's all-time leading scorer and in the top 15 all-time in Indiana High School history.
The Braves home games were all sellouts this season and they are expecting most of the town to be up in Indianapolis Saturday.
