LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The 152nd running of the Kentucky Oaks will air at a new time.

The Longines Kentucky Oaks will be shown on NBC Sports in primetime for the first time ever in 2026, according to a news release from Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI).

Post time for the 2026 Run for the Lilies that will air on NBC and the Peacock app will be shown at 8 p.m., according to the release.

"We are excited to present the Kentucky Oaks in primetime for the first time ever," Jon Miller, President, Acquisitions & Partnerships, NBC Sports said in the release. "With the Oaks on Friday night leading into the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May, we can't wait to get back to Churchill Downs for another historic weekend of racing."

"By moving the Kentucky Oaks to primetime, we’re giving one of horse racing’s most treasured traditions the national stage it deserves," said CDI CEO Bill Carstanjen. "This decision is rooted in our commitment to growing the sport, reaching new audiences and creating unforgettable experiences for our fans."

Wagner's manager Jennifer Oller says Derby week is nonstop work, but she loves watching the fillies' race and is hoping this will bring more attention to them.

“We really need to focus on that Oaks Day because there's just so much great racing think having that spotlight in with the national news and everything, the sports industry, I think people will see a little bit more of what is done on those days," Oller said.

With the change of the post time, officials say there won't be two races following the Oaks making it the grand finale.

Gates will also now open at 11 a.m. with the first post time at 12:30 p.m.

“The bigger the Oaks can be, the bigger the Derby can be and truly the whole community can benefit from that," said Tonya Abeln, the Churchill Downs vice president of corporate communications.

The 152nd running of the Kentucky Oaks is Friday, May 1, 2026.
