LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The rhythm of Pat Kelsey's offseason hasn't slowed.
Louisville reached back into the transfer portal again Friday, landing De'Shayne Montgomery, a guard from Dayton who brings production on both ends of the floor, according to multiple reports.
Montgomery, a 6-foot-4-inch junior, started all 36 games for Dayton last season, averaging 13.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He earned All-Atlantic 10 third-team honors and finished second in the league with 77 steals, the kind of number that reflects constant pressure on the ball.
Offensively, he was efficient across levels — 33.5% from three on volume, better than 60% inside the arc and nearly 79% from the line — giving Louisville a guard who can score without dominating the ball.

His career has moved through three stops — Mount St. Mary's (where he was MAAC Rookie of the Year), Georgia men's basketball (in an injury-shortened season), and Dayton — but his role now looks clearer.
At Louisville, Montgomery projects as a defensive disruptor and complementary scorer, someone who can guard multiple positions and create offense in transition. Turnovers have been part of his profile, but with less playmaking burden, that's expected to stabilize.
He joins Oregon's Jackson Shelstad as a portal addition to the backcourt, alongside returning guard Adrian Wooley and former G-League guard London Johnson, as Kelsey continues to reshape Louisville's perimeter.
Frontcourt pieces arriving via the portal so far are Kansas big man Flory Bidunga, Arkansas' Karter Knox and Iowa forward Alvaro Folgueiras.
