LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Riding the announcement of the most prestigious international women's golf tournament coming to Louisville in 2028, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg wants to emphasize a desire: Make Louisville a women's sports capital.

"We need more women's professional sports teams in Louisville," Greenberg told WDRB. "We need more world-class women's events here in Louisville, just like the Solheim Cup. And I am committed to working with everyone to make that happen."

Greenberg sat down for an exclusive, one-on-one interview with WDRB to discuss that vision and much more. He revealed how he helped Valhalla Golf Club in securing the Solheim Cup by hosting LPGA commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan and her husband at the Kentucky Derby.

The 51st Mayor of Louisville also explained a need for a strong local ownership group to lure the WNBA to the city, how the United States Women's National Soccer Team's October trip to Lynn Family Stadium offers a chance for Louisville to shine on a national stage and the future of the NWSL's Racing Louisville FC as a franchise here.
