LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- They have competed against each other and teamed up on USA national teams. Now Zakiyah Johnson and Leah Macy have both become the first local girls to be named to the McDonald's All-American game.Â
Johnson starred as an eighth grader at Shelby County High School and has spent the last four years at Sacred Heart. Johnson is averaging 23 points and almost seven rebounds a game for the top-ranked Valkyries as they bid for an unprecedented fifth consecutive state title. Â
Johnson will play at LSU next season.Â
Macy was a standout eighth grader at Elizabethtown High School, then spent two years at Mercy Academy and the last two at Bethlehem, making multiple Sweet 16 appearances. She is averaging 27 points and 13 rebounds a game. She left Sunday's All-A Classic final with a knee injury. Â
Macy is headed to Notre Dame next season.
The girls game, which has been played since 2002, will also include UK signee Kaelyn Carroll from Massachusetts.
The 48th annual boys game will include a future Cardinal and Wildcat. U of L signee Mikel Brown, Jr. from DME Academy in Florida and UK signee Malachi Moreno from Great Crossing High School in Kentucky are among the 24 boys who will play.Â
The games are April 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  Â
