LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The ACC is slimming down its men's basketball schedule, and Louisville fans will see a few noticeable changes in 2025-26 — including a marquee home-and-away with Duke and the surprising absence of Florida State.
The ACC announced each team's home and away opponents for next season Wednesday as part of its shift to an 18-game conference schedule. That's down from the previous 20-game format and comes in conjunction with the league's expansion to 18 teams a year ago.
Each school will now play two conference opponents twice — one permanent rival and one rotating foe — along with 14 teams once and skipping one altogether.
For Louisville, SMU has been designated as its annual home-and-home rival. The Cardinals will also face Duke twice in a one-year-only setup, hosting the Blue Devils at the KFC Yum! Center and visiting the legendary Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Beyond those two matchups, Louisville's home ACC slate will include games against:
- NC State
- Georgia Tech
- Virginia
- Virginia Tech
- Notre Dame
- Boston College
- Syracuse
The Cards will travel to:
- California
- Stanford
- Pittsburgh
- Miami
- Clemson
- Wake Forest
- North Carolina
Florida State is the odd team out for Louisville next season, meaning the Cardinals won't face the Seminoles at all during the regular season.
Game dates, times and TV assignments will be announced at a later date.
The new format adds fresh matchups and more manageable travel under the expanded ACC umbrella — and the home-and-home with Duke stands out as one of the biggest early highlights.
