LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Knee pain is one of the most common orthopedic problems facing our population today. Knee pain can be helped with some specific stretching and strengthening exercises. Health and wellbeing expert, Carlos Rivas, says people with stronger muscles around the knee tend to have less knee pain and a better quality of life.
Lower level of physical activity and a work environment where one is required to sit in a chair during the work day is one reason for developing knee pain. This lower degree of physical movement tends to weaken the knee muscles.
Studies show that people who have stronger muscles surrounding the knee have less knee pain and have better outcomes with surgery because of the stability that the stronger muscles provide.
