LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Disney's Frozen, the hit Broadway musical, is going on now at the Kentucky Center, and one of Louisville's own is staring in the production!
Jack Brewer is a 2017 graduate of South Oldham High School who fell in love with musical theatre at an early age. He attended the Governor's School for the Arts, and then graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
He now resides in New York, pursuing his Broadway career, and landed this tour last summer.
Brewer visited WDRB Mornings on Thursday to talk more about the show and his love for Broadway shows.
You can find Brewer on stage playing the character "Oaken," the fun and loving Scandinavian who oversees the trading post in the city.
The audition process was not an easy one, according to Brewer. He went through six or seven auditions for all different kinds of roles in the show. He started off as a swing role, filling in for other actors who needed time off. After some shifting around, he landed in the spot he is in now.
"I fell in love with theatre here in Louisville going to the Broadway Across America shows at the Kentucky Center," Brewer said on WDRB Mornings. "So it feels really, really special to be able to come back and perform in the same place that I fell in love with what I'm doing now."
Brewer emphasized that it is not just a kid's show, and that people of all ages will love it. It is a full-scale production with very talented cast members.
"If you are wanting to be on a stage one day, just be diligent," Brewer said on WDRB Mornings. "Don't take a back seat and give it all you've got, then you can make it happen."
Shows will be playing from now until Feb. 4, and tickets are still available. They can be purchased here or by visiting the Kentucky Center box office.
