LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jeffersonville boys' basketball team brought home a state championship in exciting fashion. It is their first 4A state title since 1993.
Head coach Sherron Wilkerson and the team joined WDRB Mornings on Tuesday to celebrate their title.
The Red Devils played then-undefeated Fishers for the title on Saturday, and won by one point! Fishers had a 43-game winning streak, but Jeffersonville snapped that with their 67-66 victory.
One of the players said it was very surreal knowing that what started as a dream is now their reality.
"We did a good job preparing ourselves from an emotional standpoint," Wilkerson said. "Our boys were able to attain their dream, and we're very fortunate to have that happen."
Wilkerson has now won a state championship with Jeffersonville as both a player and a coach.
