LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman recently received USA TODAY's Woman of the Year from Kentucky.

The recognition is for women who have made a significant impact on their communities.

She joined WDRB Mornings on Monday to talk more about her achievement and what she's most proud of during her time as Lieutenant Governor.

Coleman is serving her second term as Lieutenant Governor.

Throughout her time in office, she has looked at the struggles the community has faced, but also looks at the progress they have made within those struggles.

Her proudest moment is Kentucky being ranked #3 in rural job creation.

Coleman is also the state's highest elected educator and has been an advocate for public education during her tenure, as she is a former teacher herself.

"In order to receive prime education, our educators need to be paid properly for what they are doing," Coleman said on WDRB Mornings. "The funding is there, we just have to come together to fix it."

Coleman also helped waive the fee for GED's in Kentucky, which has shown a significant raise since then, and is calling on an 11% raise for Kentucky educators.
