LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Civic Orchestra is bringing two special events to the community this week, and they are free.
The shows are Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. at Bellarmine University, and Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. at Springdale Presbyterian Church.
Musician and board member Rosemary Sims visited WDRB Mornings on Monday to talk about the shows and what the LCO is all about.
The Louisville Civic Orchestra gives local musicians a unique opportunity to play high level music without having to be a professional.
Sims said on WDRB Mornings that she enjoys it because in her day-to-day life she is a real estate agent, but LCO lets her be a musician and express herself through music.
"Classical music is for everyone," Sims said on WDRB Mornings. "The music really transcends and speaks to everyone."
To join the LCO, all you have to have is a passion for music. Sims explained that if you played in high school or college and just fell out of it, this group is a great option for you.
The free shows feature masterpieces by Johannes Brahms and superstar performances by guest soloists Julia Noone and Nicholas Finch, both musicians from the Louisville Orchestra.
All ages are welcome to the concerts, and all you have to do is show up to view them.
