LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The new year is the perfect time to start a new hobby.

WDRB's Keith Kaiser joins some artists before their "Intro to Glass Mosaics" experience.

Louisville Parks and Recreation & Beechmont Community are making this event happen.

Participants, ages 18+, learn the basic principles of glass mosaics.

This includes design, nipping glass, gluing techniques, color and tone, flow of glass elements, and grouting.

Each participant will complete 2 pieces during the 8-week instructional period.

All glass, supplies, and tools are provided in this class.

However, if students want a particular texture or color of glass, they are encouraged to provide that for themselves.

Locally, Hobby Lobby carries a wide variety of glass colors and textures.

Participants may also order specific glass choices online.

$20 registration fee due at registration, and $95 payment due at the first session.

Registration and reservations for class must be completed prior to first class.

The 8-week period starts on January 10th at the Beechmont Community Center.
