LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kyle Troup has made a name for himself in professional bowling throughout his career, and just recently won the 2024 U.S. Open.

Recently moving to Louisville, Troup visited WDRB Mornings on Tuesday to talk about his career and how he got started in bowling.

Troup considers himself a "bowling alley rat," spending the early years of his life running around the bowling alley watching his father, Guppy Troup, bowl in his professional career.

He joined the Professional Bowlers Association when he was just 16 years old, and his career took off from there.

Troup has 12 PBA National Titles, including 2 majors, and he was crowned the PBA Player of the Year in 2021. He also set the single season earnings record in 2021.

His US Open win is the first of his career.

"My proudest accomplishment of my career has been receiving the Dick Weber Ambassador Award," Troup said on WDRB Mornings. Weber was a founding member of the PBA and nationally known in the bowling community.

Troup's skills and his look has gained him a huge fan base. The "fro" can't be missed, and he dresses in wildly colored pants - just like his dad used to in his professional career.
