With the warmer temperatures we've seen over the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed your yard has started to grow a little, maybe the trees in your yard have budded, or perhaps some flowers or bushes have started to regrow.

Well, after the 40+ degree temperature drop overnight after the severe weather and the cold front rolled through, our temperatures tonight keep on falling. They'll fall far enough to where a hard freeze is going to happen for our entire area.

hard freeze is defined as temperatures below 32 degrees for 4 hours or dropping to less than 28 degrees. As you can see, tonight is a slam dunk for a hard freeze and some may approach teens.

With some things already budding/blooming, you will need to cover those tonight if you want them to live.  According to statistics for the city of Louisville compiled by the National Weather Service, the normal latest hard freeze is March 20th; the normal latest freeze is March 31st; and the normal latest frost is April 11th. So, if this does end up being our last hard freeze, then it would be right around normal time. The record for the latest Spring hard freeze is April 23, 1986.
