Governor Mike Braun has declaredĀ Ā March 8-14 Severe Weather Preparedness Week 2026

The National Weather Service, in conjunction with theĀ Indiana State Police, theĀ Indiana Department of Homeland Security, theĀ IndianaĀ Department of Education,Ā theĀ Indiana BroadcastersĀ Association, theĀ American Red Cross, andĀ Amateur Radio OperatorsĀ will conduct a statewide test of communication systems on Tuesday, March 10 at 10:15 AM EDT/9:15 AM CDT.

Important NotesĀ - while the drill will be sent using live TOR EAS coding (Tornado Warning),Ā it is only a test, and will be postponed to Wednesday, March 11 if weather conditions warrant.Ā  The test warning will activate theĀ Emergency Alert SystemĀ (EAS) and includeĀ SAME activationĀ on NOAA Weather Radio, but willĀ NOTĀ trigger aĀ Wireless Emergency AlertĀ (WEA).Ā  (NWS Wilmington, OH will send the test for their Indiana counties using the RWT coding, per an agreement with their Cincinnati broadcast market partners)
