4-year-old Serenity McKinney was first reported missing in early February of 2022. A few weeks later, detectives say her body was discovered in a wooded area.

This weekend, her loved ones plan to place a cross in the area where detectives discovered Serenity McKinney's body, as a way to honor the child's memory.
Serenity McKinney's body was found in a wooded area of West Point, near the Jefferson County, Bullitt County line, on Feb. 18, 2022.
Prosecutors are recommending a 50-year prison sentence.
