Kentucky State Police were called to a scene in the small town of Allen, Kentucky, in Floyd County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022 to help officers on a report of shots fired, KSP Trooper Matt Gayheart said. When they arrived, it turned into an active shooter situation.

It stems from a person barricading themselves inside a house after a shooting in Floyd County, Kentucky, according to ATF Louisville.
Lance Storz, 49, shot at officers multiple times with a rifle Thursday night, according to an arrest citation, around his residence on Main Street in the small town of Allen, Kentucky, in Floyd County just south of Prestonsburg.
Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt said Lance Storz had "high-caliber weapons" and wore a body armor vest.
