LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Gone are the days of walking into Dee’s with your favorite spring dress and consulting with a professional hat designer to create the perfect headpiece for Derby week. Or so we thought…

Dee’s, a former Louisville home décor and design store, closed its doors in 2023 after decades in business. The store was known for its custom hats and fascinators, selling thousands every year.

Many former customers are now likely wondering, “Where do I go now?”

WDRB has learned Dee’s former lead designer, Lorie Laughead, has relocated to Anna’s Additions in Lyndon.

Laughead has been designing showstoppers for women across the globe for 30 years.

The owner of Anna’s Additions tells WDRB that Laughead came to her in September 2022, and that’s when her business really took off.

“She really is amazing, and she’s our lead designer now,” Bunting said.

Women are invited to bring a dress into the store and get a one-on-one consultation for a custom hat or fascinator. Laughead oversees all designs before they’re sent out the door.

How long does it take? That depends on how soon you go.

We’re told the turnaround time ranges between 24 hours and one week, depending on the design and timing.

“The sooner, the better, it really depends on where we are in the season,” Bunting said.

The styles range in price from $75 to $375, with the average price coming in around $175.

Anna’s Additions is located on La Grange Road in Louisville.
