LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — WWII veterans will soon have an opportunity to fly in a bomber to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the ending of the war.

Honor Flight Bluegrass is hosting the two-day event in two different locations in Kentucky. The first chance to take a trip in the B-25 Bomber is in Louisville on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Old Terminal Building at Bowman Field, 2815 Taylorsville Rd.

The second chance to fly in the B-25 Bomber is on Sunday, Aug. 10 in Russellville at 10 a.m. CST at the Russellville-Logan County Airport, 385 Airport Rd. in Russellville. 

The B-25 Bomber that the veterans will be flying in served in the 310th Bomb Group and the 57th Bomb Wing of the 12th Air Force in North Africa and Italy, completing more than 130 missions. The plane will be available for viewing before and after each flight.
