LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The images and first-person accounts from the war in Israel can be traumatic for some people.

That's why Jewish Family and Career Services is offering a grief counseling session to anyone in the community regardless of religion and culture.

The session is free for anyone who may need help coping with the reports of death and destruction.

"There are seminal moments when an agency like Jewish Family & Career Services either answers the community's calls for assistance and lives up to its mission to serve, or it fails to do so," Dr. David Finke, JFCS CEO, said in a news release. "One of our core values is Avodah (Service). JFCS already serves a very diverse community, but this is a call to action for us. We’re here to support anyone and everyone, regardless of faith or cultural background, who may be having a difficult time processing these horrific events in Israel and Gaza."

"We have neighbors here in Louisville, for example, that have a lot of community violence." said Dr. David Finke, Jewish Family and Career Services CEO. "And this is again, kind of adds to that trauma. So part of what JFCS is doing in light of that is offering a consultation service where we can talk through some of that initial reaction to the trauma and help folks process that."

JFCS also plans to host group meeting in the future that will include how to talk about events like these with children.

To take advantage of this free service, call Jessica Holloway at 502-452-6341, ext. 153.
