LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A local grocery chain is launching a new campaign to help stock the shelves at area food pantries.

From now until Aug. 31, customers at any Kroger or Jay C in Kentuckiana can purchase jars of peanut butter and drop them in donation bins. All of the donations will go toward local Feeding America affiliate food banks such as Dare to Care.

Peanut butter is a wanted product at food pantries because of its shelf sustainability and being a great source of protein for families fighting food insecurities.

This is the first year Kroger is holding the peanut butter collection. Last year, the company donated more than $17 million in community giving, including $12 million to ending hungry across Kentucky.
