LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Metro Police Department held several events throughout the city Tuesday for National Night Out.
The annual community building campaign is aimed at promoting positive relationships between the community and police department.
There were six different events held across the city, hoping to bridge the gap between neighbors and police.
"We are here at the Big Four Lawn, or next to the Big Four Bridge, putting on an event for our community, bringing the resources for our community and ensuring our communities know what there is for them and what will be there for them," LMPD officer Michael Abernathy, Jr., said.
Law enforcement all across the country participated in similar events Tuesday. National Night Out is an event that dates back to 1984.
