LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — When it comes to special occasions, flowers are the go-to way to celebrate. For one Louisville business, celebrating memories has been a family affair for more than a century and a half.
Saturday, Nanz and Kraft Florists celebrated its 175th birthday.
The family-owned business began in 1850. Former and retired staff of Nanz & Kraft were recognized by the Kraft family. Some employees have been there for decades.
There were games, treats, face-painting and live music to help celebrate a staple in the Louisville business community.
"That's one thing Mr. Kraft always insisted on was personal — the personal care of customers — he wanted them to come in and say 'I need to speak to Pat,' even if I was just helping them with a rose," Pat Pendergrass, employee at Nanz & Kraft for 51 years, said.
A portion of the proceeds from Saturday's celebration went to Hope Scarves and the animal charity the Arrow Fund.
