LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new public art program will feature different installations around downtown Louisville for the next year.
The new temporary public art program was announced Tuesday by Louisville Downtown Partnership.
For the next year, the program will feature rotating installations in public spaces downtown.
The first of the up to six installations is up now. It features six large football-shaped benches at the Plaza on Fourth, on South 4th Street.
"Public art has the power to transform spaces and create a whimsical surprise, and we believe this is a fun opportunity to bring people together in a new and interesting way," LDP Executive Director Rebecca Fleischaker said in a news release. "Temporary public art allows spaces to change and people's experiences of that space, as well as personal relationships with art, to change."
The art comes from Austin, Texas-based LeMonde Studio, which transports public art across the country.Â
All installations will be on display for four to six weeks.
