LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Food, culture and entrepreneurship are in the spotlight Wednesday as the second annual Black Derby Homecoming returns to Louisville during Derby Week.

The event on Wednesday, April 29, runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. across downtown and the West End, featuring brunch, a bus tour and an evening celebration highlighting Black-owned and women-owned businesses.

The day will begin with a brunch and conversation featuring founder and CEO Cassia Herron and other local entrepreneurs in the food, beverage and hospitality industries, who will share their experiences building businesses in Louisville.

"I created Black Derby Homecoming as a way to market these brands," said Cassia Herron, founder and CEO. "Hospitality and tourism continue to grow our local economy."

Guests will then take a guided bus tour led by Chickasaw neighborhood leader Donovan Taylor, with stops in historically and culturally significant areas including the Russell neighborhood and Limerick. The tour includes samples of locally made products, including ice cream infused with UNBRIDLED whiskey.

The event concludes with a 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. party featuring DJ Always, local food vendors and Derby-themed cocktails.

Local spirit brands participating this year include West End Gin, UNBRIDLED whiskey and Rivergreen Cocktails. More information is available online.
