Exposed wires on an interstate light pole caused by copper thieves - 3.22.24

Pole after pole is the same thing — protective cover removed and wires missing.  

The project, funded by a $200,000 federal grant, will replace traditional wired lighting systems with solar-powered options, eliminating copper wiring.

The solar lighting is being installed to deter copper thieves, who have cost taxpayers at least $1 million for repairs.
