Kentucky lawmakers opened the 2026 session in a temporary Capitol, kicking off debate over transparency, taxes, education and the state budget.
A proposed constitutional amendment moving through the Kentucky General Assembly would freeze property tax increases for homeowners 65 and older.
Gov. Andy Beshear signed House Bills 307 and 642 to help more Kentuckians pursue higher education and increase pay for retired teachers during reemployment.
