LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- T-shirts in support of Scottie Scheffler after his arrest Friday in Louisville have gone viral on social media, and local businesses are cashing in.

Fans showed up Friday morning at Valhalla Golf Club decked out in "Free Scottie" shirts, hats and even orange jumpsuits. T-shirt sales of the viral hashtag #freescottie started at just $10 in the Valhalla parking lot at the 106th PGA Championship.

Once Scheffler had been booked into jail in downtown Louisville, fans turned to local businesses for merchandise. Logo apparel company Tag Swag printed dozens of "Free Scottie" hats Friday morning and still has new orders coming in. Local T-shirt print shop Dirty Tease had to whip up loads of shirts in minutes for the fans to wear out on the course.

Larger brands, including Barstool Sports, had T-shirts on their sites Friday as well. But Alisa Clark, owner of Dirty Tease on Bardstown Road in Louisville's Bonnycastle neighborhood, said they were inundated with orders right away.

"We didn't even pay any attention to it until we had customers coming in," she said. "... I don't know how many we did, but we did a lot that day."

With thousands of people lining his first hole, the 10th, Scheffler made birdie to the roar of a crowd shouting "Scottie! Scottie! Scottie!" Everywhere he went, the crowds were massive during the PGA Championship. His arrest was international news by 9 a.m., and, within an hour, Scheffler was the fan favorite in Louisville.

Clark said it's all in good fun and they loved the boost in business.
