Overnight, JCPS Police alerted us to a social media threat against our school. We immediately began working with police to investigate. We are following all of our safety protocols including heightening our building security.

We take any potential threat to our school very seriously and will always err on the side of caution.

Jeffersontown Elementary School
Dear Jeffersontown Elementary Families,
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. I’m writing to provide you with the most accurate information about a situation impacting our school today.
This morning, one of our students made a threat against our school to their entire class. It is JCPS policy to take any threat seriously. We are following our protocols to assess the threat, contact the child’s parent/guardian and discipline the student in accordance with the Student Support and Behavior Intervention Handbook.
Please use this as an opportunity to talk with your student about the consequences of what they say or what they might post on social media. Even if a student claims they are "just joking around" we must take what they say or write at face value and follow the appropriate policy for dealing with a potential threat.
We take any potential threat to our school very seriously and will always err on the side of caution.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the school office.
Thank you for your support of J-town Elementary!
Sincerely,
Brooke Schilling
Principal
