LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man is dead and two others were critically injured in crash after a chase by Kentucky State Police ended in Breckinridge County.

In a news release Monday, KSP said a trooper was checking speeds on Joe Prather Highway about 5:30 p.m. Sunday near the Flaherty community in Meade County.

The trooper reportedly saw a Ford Fusion speeding and tried to pull over the driver. KSP said the Fusion did not stop, and the trooper began a pursuit. The chase went all the way to the intersection of KY-333 and McDonald Lane in Breckinridge County. That's where state police said the Fusion crossed the center line and hit a Jeep.

The driver of the Fusion, Rodney Richards, 51, of Radcliff died at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep and a 14-year-old passenger were both flown to separate hospitals in Louisville with life-threatening injuries.

A portion of KY-333 was closed for several hours to allow KSP troopers to reconstruct the collision. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating
