LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky is recording more cases of Avian flu in wild birds.

Experts say it has been reported in 10 Kentucky counties, including Jefferson and Franklin. Infected birds can spread it through saliva, mucus and feces. People can become infected if they inhale it or if it gets into a person's eyes, nose or mouth.

John Brunjes with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife reminds people not to forget to take precautions.

"Wash your hands," Brunjes said. "Don't rub your nose. Don't rub your eyes until you make sure that you're clean."

There's no cure once birds have contracted Avian flu. Experts say sick birds can appear droopy, wobbly and unstable.

If you see birds in your area with any of those symptoms, you're asked to report it to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.
