LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people are dead after a head-on crash on Interstate 265 near Preston Highway early Monday morning.
Aaron Ellis, spokesman for LMPD, said officers responded to a call around 3:40 a.m. of a motor vehicle collision on Interstate 265 westbound.
Investigation showed that a pickup truck was traveling in the eastbound lanes and crossed over into the westbound lanes.
The truck hit a second pickup truck head-on, causing both vehicles to catch fire.
EMS and Okolona Fire responded to the scene, according to Ellis, and were able to extinguish the fire quickly.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to Ellis.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
