LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two Marion County firefighters were hospitalized after a tanker truck overturned Friday evening.
Kentucky State Police said in a news release that 51-year-old Brian Hatt, of Raywick, was driving north on KY 537 in a Raywick Fire Department 2008 International tanker truck.
Hatt was on the way to assist the Loretto Fire Department with a fire call when the truck dropped off the right shoulder, causing the edge of the road to collapse.
He lost control and crossed the highway before the truck went off the left side, struck an embankment and overturned.
Hatt was ejected, and his passenger — 58-year-old Leonard Winkler, also of Raywick — became trapped inside.
Hatt was flown to UofL Hospital with life-threatening injuries, while Winkler was flown to UK Hospital with serious injuries.
Both men are firefighters with the Raywick Fire Department.
