LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three people are in the hospital after a plane crash in Muncie, Indiana on Monday, reported by FOX59.
The plane crashed into a walking path near Delaware County Regional Airport around 10:26 a.m. Two people walking along a walking trail near the airport were injured when the single-engine private plane crashed.
Delaware County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jeff Stanley said to FOX59 that it's unclear if the the pedestrians were hit by the falling plane or debris as the plane crashed into the treeline surrounding the walking path.
"They’re out doing some exercise, going for a walk, and the next thing you know they’re being struck by a plane," Stanley said. "It’s very unfortunate, we’re praying for the best for everyone involved."
The pilot was also taken to IU Ball Memorial Hospital. The status of the victims' injuries was not immediately available.
Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
