LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An 82-year-old man died in a plane crash in northern Indiana on Tuesday, according to Indiana State Police.
ISP and the Federal Aviation Administration responded to a crash near Sulphur Springs in Henry County, 50 miles east of Indianapolis. The crash happened near U.S. 36 and County Road 200 West on a private airfield around 2 p.m.
Police said a blue 1975 Stewart Bowers Flybaby crashed into a field north of the runway. The pilot, David Michael Province, died at the scene. Province is from Middletown, Indiana.
According to police, the crashed happened sometime during take off. Province was the only person in the plane and no one else was injured in the crash.
The FAA will investigate the crash.
