LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Traffic on Algonquin Parkway in Louisville will be changing this week as crews begin a construction project that will reconfigure the road from four travel lanes to two.
The work zone runs between 40th Street and Winkler Avenue.
Crews will be working daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as they convert the current four-lane roadway into two travel lanes with a two-way left-turn lane in the center.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said this is to improve traffic flow and safety in the area.
The project also includes new signage, updated pavement markings and a concrete sidewalk ramp.
Drivers should expect lane shifts in the area starting this week. Overnight resurfacing work is expected to begin mid-to-late July.
The full project is expected to be finished by fall.
