LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A musical festival in Louisville promoted mental health awareness this weekend.

The Big Stomp was held at the Brown-Foreman Amphitheater at Waterfront Park Friday and Saturday. There were wellness workshops and family friendly activities designed to connect, recharge and inspire people connected to mental health.

The festival is a combination of live music and health programming outreach for the Pete Foundation, which provides mental health crisis intervention.

"Music can help bring out emotion, it can help express emotions, it can help us cope with emotions just naturally I think the two go hand and hand," event co-founder Michelle Jones said.

The Big Stomp was previously known as "PeteFest" and established in 2017.

The festival honors Louisville native Pete Jones, who took his own life in Dec. 2016. All proceeds from the music festival go toward the Pete Foundation. To learn more about the Pete Foundation, click here
