LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- State leaders held a ceremonial groundbreaking Tuesday for the new Paddocks of Frankfort, a $150 million shopping center just off Interstate 64's exit 53 in Frankfort.

The new property will feature different shops and restaurants, including a 128,000-square-foot Target.

"This is something very special, something very unique, something very few communities in this state have," Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said Tuesday. "It's the biggest investment of its kind in Franklin County history."

The Paddocks of Frankfort will create nearly 1,800 construction jobs, and Beshear said the annual impact will support more than 1,000 jobs and $28 million in yearly wages.

"It will spur economic development, boost tourism and, most of all, provide a new shopping and entertainment experience for the folks that live here," Beshear said in a news release Tuesday. "One of the world’s most beloved brands, Target, is coming to Frankfort, and we appreciate Pat Madden and his team for investing here."
