LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- As one door closes, two more are opening in southern Indiana.
Two new restaurants will fill the space formerly occupied by Tucker's American Favorites on State Street in New Albany.
According to WDRB's partners at Business First, Good Bowl and Pluk'd will share the space.
Good Bowl is scheduled to open in mid-February for lunch and early dinner hours. The healthy, fast-casual restaurant will serve preset or build-your-own salads, rice and açaí bowls.
Pluk'd, which will occupy the other half of the space, is expected to be open by March 1. The chicken restaurant will also serve burgers, fried fish sandwiches and more.
Business First reports both restaurants will share one kitchen. They will also have mobile apps for customers to place orders for carry-out or delivery. The apps will also provide rewards programs offering deals or offers based on points.
Beau Kerley, who owns and operates 812 Pizza Company in Georgetown, is behind the concept.
Kerley told Business First the cost to renovate the Tucker's space into the two restaurants has a $100,000 price tag. He had been operating the restaurant since 2019, and made the decision to close when sales never bounced back from the pandemic.
Construction to transform the space into two restaurants has been ongoing since Tucker's closed in September 2024.
The concept of two restaurants in one space isn't new for Kerley. In 2019, he took over the former Ann's By the River restaurant at the corner of Spring and Market in downtown Jeffersonville, which closed in the fall of 2018.
There, he opened a breakfast restaurant called Early Edition on one side, and a Mexican restaurant called Dos Gringos on the other, using the same kitchen.
Both restaurants closed in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The space is now home to Ramiro's Cantina.
