LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new tradition is growing out of the Kentucky State Fair, with the third annual "official scent" of the fair.

Through a partnership with Buff City Soap, the state fair is celebrating different aspects of the fair through a limited edition soap.

This year's soap is called "Kentucky's Greatest Hits." It's a blue and white bar of soap featuring a music note and guitar.

"We really tried to lean into the entertainment aspect of the fair knowing that this year the music lineup is bigger and better than ever," said Courtney Aubrey, senior marketing manager at Buff City Soap.

Buff City Soap said the soap smells like "Bluegrass sunsets" and "summertime tunes." It has notes of vanilla, cedar, sandalwood and smoke.

The first year for the state fair to have its own soap was 2022. The scent was called "Main Squeeze," which played off the popular lemonade shake-up drinks at the fair.

Last year's soap was "Fair-y Sweet Summer." It was a pink and blue soap that brought together colors of cotton candy and smelled like candied apples, sugar and mango.

There's only a limited supply of "Kentucky's Greatest Hits" soap available during this fair season. It's available at Louisville-area Buff City Soap stores for $9.

Aubrey said she expects this partnership with the Kentucky State Fair to continue for years to come, with a new soap coming out each August.

The fair begins Aug. 15 this year.
