LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The leader of a Louisville hospital is stepping down.
In a letter to staff, UofL Health Peace Hospital CEO Aundrea Lewis said she was taking time off for herself, her family and her own mental health.
Lewis worked her way up from nurse manager to the top of the psychiatric hospital over the last 18 years, being named CEO at the end of 2022.
But her resignation now comes about two weeks after a violent altercation involving staff and juvenile psychiatric patients.
Sources told WDRB News several employees were hurt in the altercation, and dozens called out sick over safety concerns Wednesday.
UofL Health did not comment on that issue.
A spokesperson for UofL Health did release a brief statement on her Lewis' departure, saying Lewis' last day will be April 18, and that she'd been considering leaving for months, thanking her for service.
