LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Months after storms caused extensive damage, a hotel at the French Lick Resort in Indiana is making progress on renovations.Â
The West Baden Springs Hotel was forced to shut down its iconic atrium after it was damaged by hail last summer. All 12 of the carved glass panels in the atrium were damaged.
Last week, the protective covering was removed from the first section of new glass atop the historic atrium, but 11 more sections still need to be repaired.Â
The hotel has remained open to guests during renovations. Work is expected to wrap up by the end of April.
The resort reopened East Park in September 2023, following a multiyear revitalization project, featuring shaded walking paths, historic Neptune Spring, a baseball field and pickleball courts.Â
The southern Indiana hotel dates back to 1902 and is a National Historic Landmark. It includes golf courses, an opera house and mineral spas. The hotel has more than 240 guestrooms and 40 balcony rooms that look out at the atrium.Â
