LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The threat of tariffs is starting to hit the U.S. economy as shoppers and small businesses begin cutting back on spending.
Things are very quiet in Kohl's stores now, as they have been struggling the past couple years.
Economists say what's happening is an indication that shoppers are cutting back given all the economic uncertainty right now.
Kohl's has said they expect sales to drop around 5%, more than expected.
Dick's Sporting Goods also reported slowing sales, while Target and Best Buy have said they may have to raise some of their prices soon due to the tariffs.
Economic uncertainty always leads to spending cutbacks, but economists believe there will be a better handle on things in the next two to three months.
