LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Holiday World & Splashin' Safari is now in the lodging business after recently purchasing Santa's Cottages, a well-known destination in Santa Claus, Indiana.

It's the first time in Holiday World's 79-year history that it has acquired a business. 

The 23-acre lakeside resort features walking trails, lakes, playgrounds and a pool. 

"We're so excited to officially be in the lodging business and this is only the beginning," Leah Koch-Blumhardt, a fourth-generation owner of the park, said in a news release Tuesday. 

"Holiday World has always been a destination for families from all across the Midwest, but it amazes us how many families come from nearby cities, such as St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Nashville and make it a single-day trip. As we grow into lodging, we hope more families will choose our parks as a multi-day destination."

Santa's Cottages offers several types of units — some fully furnished with kitchens, fire pits, and outdoor gathering areas, according to the news release.

"The property includes multiple lakes available for catch-and-release fishing and fish feeding, playgrounds, hammocks, a basketball court, and a pool with a splash pad," Holiday World leaders said.

Anyone interested in booking a room at Santa's Cottages is encouraged to check its website for special off-season deals as the season gets closer. 

Holiday World will open for select season passholders during the weekend of May 3 before opening to the public May 10. Splashin' Safari opens May 17, and both parks are open daily beginning May 23. 

The park is already hiring for the 2025 season. Candidates can be as young as 14 years old for some department positions, but most positions require applicants to be at least 16 years old. Team members will receive a season pass, 50% off food, 20% off merchandise and more.
