LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Sam's Club and Costco have just announced big changes that longtime customers are very unhappy with.
Both stores have made changes to their membership agreements.
If you have a big family, members say it's hard to beat Sam's Club with big savings on bulk items - from detergent to frozen food.
Sam's Club members will now have to pay an additional $60 a year for a premium membership. It allows early access to stores, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., to beat the crowds.
In addition, the minimum purchase for free shipping will now be $50. Until now, you could get almost everything shipped for free.
Many customers are opting for the basic membership, that doesn't cost anymore.
Costco just announced its membership is going up from $60 to $65 in September.
If you are looking to avoid these changes, it may be best to switch to another store or buy within the next few weeks before the changes are finalized.
